mobilization aug. 23, 2008 and why

Posted by: his royal highness In: just for laughs| life, thoughts & ramblings| politics

and so, we got mobilizes at 1200 noon on aug. 23, 2008 by a robotic and mechanical voice that almost threaten to unleash doses of charges (charges as in law charges, militarily-wise) if we fail to report to maju camp in 2 hours.

(image from TIME)

the sspg chaps (namely all the senior commanders and their clerks) got activated at 1000 hrs. the advance party (junior commanders and key appointment holders - that’s where his highness belongs) received the call at 1200 hrs. the spares (they replace secondary key appointment holders when they are down - i.e dead) and the main body (basically, all the bullet eaters - we call them guardsmen) got it later at 1400 hrs.

the poor sspg chaps gets 2 hours to rush to maju. the advance party gets 2 hours. the spares get 2 hours, but the main body gets like 6 hours upon the called up to report? ouch, that’s unfair. what if they resides in the east, but are somewhat in the west at the point of activation. they will have to rush back to the east and proceed again to the west for the mobilization. double ouch!

for who are unaware, M hours represents the point of activation for the s.a.f. that means it is the time the button is pressed for the main body to gather and stand ready for war (in a real life situation). it is also the same time when the little green man gets flashed on the tv, gets shown in cinemas, gets broadcast on the radio etc. the sspg gets the call in M-4 hours, the advanced party gets it in M-2 hours. this means they get it all before the public is aware of the call up to prepare. the spares and main body gets it at M hours. so the whole s.a.f will be ready to move out in 6 hours after notice is sent. in 6 hrs, the s.a.f is ready to obliterate the enemy.

why 6 hours? by the time another one wants to attack singapore, we will be ready before them.

1. conventional warfare requires time to mass troops for an attack. troops must be ready to occupy any land gain. the s.a.f beats everyone else in that.

2. our intelligence unit would have spot any threat and react before the enemy strikes.

well, what do the s.a.f do in the wait for the troops to come? well.. that’s a military secret!!! otherwise, we just wait!

still… upon call up, each soldier has about a baggage load of 15kg to 20kg to throw around on our backpack and on us. that’s the necessarily equipment the arms vest etc. and a additional 3-4 kg worth of weapons plus rounds (that’s just bullets). frankly speaking… soldiers die more from the weight than from bullets that they might eat…

and here’s a little something from kim chwee on his observations (rather it’s an msn exchange the night after the mobilization) at maju camp:-

they work in pairs =)

they work in pairs =)

did i tell you about the 6SIR joke?
you know their symbol is spartans with purple background right.
purple is unusual for military units cause it’s the colour of gay pride.
plus spartans are supposed to be manly.
then i told my friend but she corrected me with some greek history facts
apparently spartan army in history was comprised of pairs of gay lovers
so they can fight harder for their loved ones beside them
that why so fierce
so now 6SIR.. can fight for their loved ones during guard duty
they permanent POI one right
so they do it in pairs
or sometimes threesome
haha
it’s international colour of gay pride. can verify.
so you gay pride colour.. then aspire to be gay ancient greek couples.

note:-

1. 6 S.I.R (6th battalion, singapore infantry regiment) is resides in maju camp. check out more on the camps and bases of the s.a.f (singapore armed forces).

2. purple IS the international gay color. that’s a fact. google it.

of course, no offense intended. just something to share from a day of boredom.
