薛凯琪 - 梦醒时分 (新不了情 OST)
this song is one of the theme songs from the hong kong drama, 新不了情.
fiona sang the song in a slightly different manner than the original version sung by 陈淑桦.
it’s true that the original singer has more power and strength as compared to fiona. but as every one knows, original singers come from an entirely different era, bringing along their oldies style of singing. on the other hand, fiona who was brought up in an international school has more exposure. her singing shows different experiences in the musical areas.
considering she knows french singing, mandarin singing, speaks cantonese, her singing brings a more vibrant spirit and a slight rappy style to each starting phrase…

he jolly well knows that it was just a senseless whine jest that comes out once in a blue moon ever so often from some. still it annoys.
though of the moment that sums up the end of the week (if we consider friday the end of the week):-
yes, he has heard it long long long long ago, is there still a need to constantly drill it in bring it up?
presenting:-
the song that seems pretty nice, and relates to the topic of the night. stare hard at the lyrics.

and this youtube clip is a classic one. and there has been lots of variation for it. the flash version, the jingle version and even the maple story version. his highness think the above posted version should the original version with subtitles added.
wy was the first one who told his royal highness about it. and just hours ago, bibi shared the infamous link back with his highness. then again, classics never die. don’t they?
still, it’s a bit offensive. though it’s all done in the name of humor.
now, everyone get a big laugh!

this song is really a re-post from a previous thread from an older blog. but well, it is really a neat song. the singer happened to be the winner of the malaysian idol 2. and when tyler asked his royal highness to recommend a good mandarin song, he chose this song from amongst all the rest. and hence this song traveled across the digital pipelines to canada, into the hands of tyler.
well, the song came back into his royal mind some time back. and it popped into resonance recently when subsequent related topics sprung up. first up came from love guru alfie who got attached =). the chap was dying to get out reservist to see his dear. second baton came from another when the theme topic came into discussion the other night. and so it seems, both revolved around 现在很想见你. or so it seems…
at least, the lyrics matched word-for-word to what they wanted…
as for his highness. he’ll preferred to 现在很想见 germany win the euro cup 2008. that’s for now. at least, that’s for now.

Smash Mouth - [Astro Lounge] - All Star
(note: the video’s a lip sync version)
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an “L” on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
Back to the rule and I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow
[Chorus:]
Hey now you’re an All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you’re a Rock Star get the show on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
It’s a cool place and they say it gets colder
You’re bundled up now but wait ’til you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture
The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The waters getting warm so you might as well swim
My world’s on fire how about yours
That’s the way I like it and I never get bored
[Repeat Chorus 2x]
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change
Well the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
Back to the rule and I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow
[Repeat Chorus]

wang jie, a respected 实力派 singer back from the late 80s and throughout the early and mid 90s. he’s one hell of a solid singer. he crafted his songs with his soul and that is why his royal highness thinks his songs can touch the hearts of many. his songs reflected his emotional life, his ups and downs, and his failed relationship with his wife.
although his songs in the later part of his career (namely the late 90s till now) reflect a different maturity in thinking, a different and fresh perspective of life, it is nevertheless, still good.
his highness love his songs. always had, and always will love his songs.
—
it’s a tragic thing that his music ain’t the ‘in’ thing now. music that reflects our darkest soul no longer makes money? perhaps
for now, music is all commercial, with all the new pop groups springing up every now and then. there’s no more spiritual connection to it anymore. of course, church songs is a rival to that philosophy, but still, in his royal opinion, they are different entities to debate about.
